Let's Build a Playground!

playmatters fb post

The City of Goodlettsville and The CarMax Foundation are building a playground at Pleasant Green Park and your help is needed to prepare for this exciting project. The project is in partnership with KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit dedicated to giving kids the childhood they deserve through great, safe places to play.

This project has been in the works since the beginning of August involving many members of the community to make a great playspace for the kids of Goodlettsvile! On Wednesday, August 15, kids from the surrounding community came together to draw their dream playground. The playground is based off their drawings and will provide kids in Goodlettsville with a great, safe place to play.

Help us put kids first in Goodlettsville by creating a new place for kids to play! On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, volunteers from Goodlettsville and the CarMax Foundation will build a great new place for kids to play in ONE day. In preparation for Build Day we are in search of 75 volunteers from the community to assist in the build of the playground. Build Day starts off with volunteers arriving to an empty site. Within hours, KaBOOM! leads volunteers to transform the space into a community-inspired, state-of-the-art playground.

The CarMax Foundation has provided the majority of the funding for the playground through its national partnership with KaBOOM!, supporting The Foundation’s commitment to furthering the cause of children’s healthy living. The project is among 33 playgrounds The CarMax Foundation and KaBOOM! will build across the country by the end of 2018 – a $5 million investment. Although we are partnered with The CarMax Foundation and KaBOOM!, our desired playspace requires additional financial support. Our “community-build” playspace project calls on the entire community to participate in the planning and building process. Several sponsorship opportunities are available for those who wish to be involved!
