Goodlettsville Business Re-Openings Plan(s)

As many are aware, Governor Lee has authorized the re-opening of restaurants and retail facilities under specific restrictions as a part of his Executive Orders and the TN Pledge.  The Governor’s plan is effective throughout 89 counties in our state. The counties of Davidson, Shelby, Hamilton, Knox, Madison and Sullivan all operate separate health departments from the State, therefore making them exempt from the State of Tennessee business re-opening orders. While the Davidson County Health Department has created a plan to re-open businesses, outlined in the Roadmap for Reopening Nashville, it has not authorized phase I of the re-opening to begin yet.

Many people have asked what this means for businesses that operate within the corporate limits of the City of Goodlettsville since the plans do not coincide.  Unfortunately, the answer is the Davidson County portion of the city will have to follow the Davidson County Health Department’s orders, outlined in the Roadmap for Reopening Nashville, while businesses in the Sumner County portion of the city will be required to follow those of the State of Tennessee, outlined in the TN Pledge.

“I understand that this matter may be very confusing and possibly create varying issues for our local businesses. However, as we all work through this tough time together, we will create a much stronger local commerce than what we had prior to the COVID-19 outbreak,” said Tim Ellis, City Manager.

Mary Laine Hucks, Director of Economic Development added, “We are hurting for our businesses that are affected by this life-altering pandemic. Please use us as a resource during this time.”

The City of Goodlettsville stands ready to assist any business through this time of re-opening to customers. Anyone with questions may call 615-851-2200.

Stay the course and stay calm, because we are Goodlettsville and we will overcome.
