With the increased traffic around Nashville, and when I-65 is backed up, people are using Lickton Pike/Old Springfield Pike to go from Nashville to Goodlettsville/Hendersonville/Greenbriar/Springfield. Because traffic light at the intersection of Dickerson Rd and Old Springfield Pike does not stay GREEN very long for the vehicles turning left onto Dickerson Rd, it is creating large backups along Old Springfield Pike. This can be mitigated somewhat by adding a third lane on Old Springfield Pike from Hitt Lane to Dickerson Rd.

The Old Springfield Pike and Dickerson Rd intersection has been extremely prone to accidents. This last incident, the cross-walk posts have not been replaced for over a month.
There are obvious actions to help prevent further accidents and damage.
First, the speed limit for southbound traffic on Dickerson Rd (from the 31W and 41 merger to Old Springfield Pike) needs to be consistently enforced.
Second, the markings for the far right lane (which only turns onto Old Springfield Pike) need to be blatant. Specifically, (1) a large white arrow should be painted on the road showing the "Right turn only"; (2) thre should be one or two LARGE yellow signs on the right side of the road stating "Right Lane Ends - Right turn Only" - the current small white square signs are totally inadequate; (3) the triangular curbs and posts need to be coated with reflective tape/paint along with a possible flashing caution light; and (4) a possible guard rail or barrier protecting the posts/curb.

Now is the time (before Spring foliage grows back) to remove/clean all litter, debris and trash along many of the streets around Goodlettsville. Specifically areas underneath I-65 and Long Hollow, Main St on the north end of town (especially along side the trailer parks), Old Springfield Pike, E Cedar St (especially by the train trestle), all on/off ramps near I-65, the area near the train trestle and Dickerson Rd, and many others. Not only does all the litter create an unsightly appearance for the city, much of this trash flows into nearby by streams, creeks and waterways. Likewise, the depreciation of property values due to people constantly throwing litter into nearby yards.

Replace the One Way/Do Not Enter sign that was apparently run over and is sitting in the middle of Long Hollow Pike near the entrance ramp to South bound I-65.

Add reflective tape, markers, and/or paint to the cross-walk posts and curbs at the intersection of Dickerson Rd and Old Springfield Pike. This will allow the posts and curbs to be more visible at nighttime and during the rain, and hopefully prevent having to reinstall the posts every time someone runs into them.

The stop sign at the entrance/exit to Rite Aid on Long Hollow Pike (across from the City Hall) is bent at a 45 deg angle and has been so for about 6 or more months. Recommend Public Works fix.

As you enter Old Springfield Pike from Dickerson Rd., along the right side, there is a vacant lot where the curb along the road runs about half way down. After the curb ends, apparently people are using that area for u-turns, 4-wheeling, etc. This area (which is across from the Grand Ole RV campground), is becoming a mud pit (especially after any rain). An extended curb should help to reduce or eliminate this eye sore and keep the land in good condition.

Recommend Public Works, if not already implemented, establish a consistent and frequent roadside cleanup schedule. Suggest monthly street inspections and cleanups. Areas requiring close and frequent attention are all the on- and off-ramp areas around I-65. Examples of other streets with frequent litter are Cedar Ave., northern Dickerson Rd., (between Dorris and Old Springfield Pike....with focus around the train trestle and the trailer park areas). Even Main St., in front of the old high school is accumulating a lot of litter. Conference Dr., from the top of the hill to the bypass is another area. Frequent cleanups will help in the effort, but we also need increased education, awareness and publicity reminding citizens of the no litter laws and associated fines, as well as environmental and economic impacts. Finally, enforcement is required, whether code enforcement for businesses to keep their areas clean or general fines to citizens for littering.
