The Goodlettsville Fire Department has hosted a Christmas event for children in December each year since 1986. On that day, the department hosts a Christmas party for children who live in the area who would not otherwise have much of a Christmas.
Each child is assigned to a shopping partner from the group comprised of Firefighters and their families, Simmons Bank staff, or local volunteers. Santa Claus joins them for breakfast with pictures and the children get to shop for toys, a coat and a pair of shoes. After their shopping, they are transported back to the Fire Hall where the team assists them with assembly or batteries and everyone gets time to play with the items they have purchased.
For many years, in various ways, members of the Goodlettsville Fire Department and their families have worked to raise money for this local charity. The Fire Department currently sells the best Boston Butts you have ever eaten each 4th of July and our great local partners at Simmons Bank sponsor a 5K run each September to raise funds. The effort would not be afloat today without generous support from our local businesses and citizens alike.
