TN native. A great and large pine of the original northeastern forest and Canada. Has dark blue-green needles, smooth gray bark when young which turns to deep ridged bark with maturity. Its branches grow in whirls, so this means that you can count how old the tree is as long as the branches or branch scars are still visible to the ground. A great tree that is under attack in middle TN, by two separate diseases, the White Pine Wilt, and the White Pine Decline.
