Non-native. Native to a small area of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Its names include Hedgeapple, Mockorange, Bois D’arc, Bodock, Horseapple, etc, depending on where you are living. It has the most decay resistant timber in North America. With beautiful yellow heartwood that is extremely hard and heavy. It’s not a user friendly tree, which may have thorns and low impassable limbs. Also, it has a large, milky, green fruit that can hurt if it falls on your head. Has been naturalized across much of the eastern US, and is a weed tree in many areas.
