TN native. Native to most every eastern state south of Mid-Ohio. Can grow to be a large straight tree in the forest. Growing quickly in 60 years, it can be 100’ tall and wide in that short amount of time. A star shaped leaf makes it unique, along with a ping pong ball size seed ball that has prickly little projections on its exterior. Hundreds, and even over a thousand of those seed balls can fall from a single big tree and blanket the ground yearly. Otherwise it is a nice tree with multiple leaf colors in Autumn.
