[ARCHIVED] Park Use Update to Include Closure of Moss-Wright Park

868

After careful consideration, the City of Goodlettsville has made decision to close Moss-Wright Park and Pleasant Green Park. At the close of business today, April 2, 2020 the park gates will be locked and remain locked through April 14. A decision on extending this closure will be made on Friday, April 10, 2020 and not before. This decision was carefully made after consideration of all local, state, and federal recommendations, and in accordance with the most recent Executive Order issued by Governor Bill Lee.

Prior to this closure, the parks have remained open with minimal amenities available. As COVID-19 continues to spread, there has been a surge in visitors within City parks, and the City believes that it is in the best interest of the residents to discourage social gathering within these heavily used parks.

“It is not an easy decision to close parks, specifically a facility that we consider the core of our parks system within Goodlettsville, but we are determined ensure all precautionary measures are being taken on our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Don’t let this closure discourage you from spending time outside. We encourage you to continue to enjoy outdoor activity in your neighborhood and around your home. We will get through this together,” said Interim Director of Parks and Recreation, Sarah Jennings.

As of now, the other parks within the City will remain open and proper social distancing and health precautions should be followed. An updated list of closures and cancellations can be found online at www.goodlettsville.gov.

Stay the course and stay calm, because we are Goodlettsville and we will overcome.
