The City of Goodlettsville regrets to announce the cancellation of this year’s Independence Day Celebration, an annual event that draws thousands to Moss-Wright Park each year to enjoy fireworks put on by Impact Pyro of Goodlettsville, TN.

Two main factors went into making this decision: social distancing and public health concerns, and the use of fiscal resources in the current economic environment. Although other options were considered, such as a modified event or relocation of the event, the City believes that cancellation is in the best interest of the citizens.

“The Independence Day Celebration has been the cornerstone of the City of Goodlettsville’s Patriotic foundation for many years and it will be again in the future. This year’s cancellation is a temporary step in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus”, said Mayor Jeff Duncan.

Please know that this decision was not made lightly.

“We are currently in unprecedented times and certain decisions are having to be made nationwide that have never previously been considered in order to protect our city, state and nation from the COVID Pandemic”, said Tim Ellis, City Manager.

An updated list of closures and cancellations can be found online at www.goodlettsville.gov.

Stay the course and stay calm, because we are Goodlettsville and we will overcome.
