[ARCHIVED] Conference Drive to be Surface Sealed 9/28 - 10/9

road work ahead

Conference Drive will be Surface Sealed between the dates of

September 28th – October 9th

Why is this needed?

Any road work will cause some inconvenience for residents. We apologize for this.

However, we must perform Preventive Roadway Maintenance to use your tax dollars wisely.

Without timely maintenance, an asphalt road will deteriorate to a point requiring extensive and expensive work. For example, the maintenance treatment being applied will cost approximately 20% of more extensive work for that same mile. This preventive maintenance will prove to be more cost effective to preserve your road’s condition.

Preventive Maintenance on a roadway can be compared to changing the oil in your car. Each procedure will greatly extend service life at a low cost.

The penetrating sealer we will use has been a standard product in use for several years. This product simply replaces oils that are dried from the pavement by the heat of manufacturing and the sun. The process seals and rejuvenates the pavement preparing it to again be weather resistant. This is much like using a hand cream to keep our skin healthy or using “Armor All” to protect your car’s plastic and rubber surfaces.

Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation!

Points to Remember

*Access to your drive will be limited during this process. During the short application period, any work crew member can assist you.

*Remove parked cars between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

*Please observe all signs and flagman’s directions.

*This material will track onto your driveway if driven on before it is dry. Cones will be removed when it is dry enough to drive on.  Approx. 2-4 hours.

*Drive SLOWLY, if you accidently enter a freshly treated area. (5 m.p.h.)

*For special events, moving, garage sales, etc., call 731-441-2069 for assistance.

*Keep children & pets out of treated areas to avoid tracking into houses.

*Material tracked onto drives will leave a stain.

Stay out of coned off areas.

*Please refrain from using lawn sprinklers, washing cars, etc. on the day of treatment. Pavement must be dry.

*Rain will delay work until the following day.

*Remember, any work crew member can assist you during actual application.

This Preventive Maintenance process is a most

economical use of your tax dollar.

Thank you for your cooperation.
