[ARCHIVED] City of Goodlettsville Hometown Holiday Events

Hometown Holidays Logo

The City of Goodlettsville regrets to announce the cancellation of this year’s Christmas Parade, an annual event that draws thousands to Main Street each year. The cancellation of this event is in compliance with Metro Health Order 12, limiting gathering sizes to 8 people.

In addition to the cancellation of the Christmas Parade, the City has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual Goodlettsville Yulefest that takes place at Moss-Wright Park. Although Yulefest is a cherished part of the holiday tradition for Goodlettsville, the health and safety of our community comes first.   With the large crowd the event draws each year, social distancing inside the facilities used for Yulefest is not possible, therefore, Yulefest will be taking a break in 2020.

Despite the cancellation of this years’ special events, the City has many planned activities for families to safely celebrate the holidays from home.

Virtual Tree Lighting

Join us Live on Facebook beginning at 6:00pm on Friday, December 4 for the annual lighting of the Goodlettsville Christmas Tree. The virtual Tree Lighting Celebration will feature holiday music, a Christmas story told by Santa Claus himself, and the first official lighting of the new Christmas Tree at Goodlettsville City Hall. Leading up to the event, we encourage everyone to stop by Delmas Long Community Center to pick-up a family holiday pack of hot chocolate to sip on and enjoy while you watch the tree lighting! To tune in to the Live Event, visit the Goodlettsville Parks and Recreation Facebook Page at

Candy Cane Village

Take a walk through Candy Cane Village, located at Goodlettsville City Hall, to enjoy the holiday houses created by sponsors from across the City. This is a free event for citizens to visit and take photos as many times as desired throughout the month of December. The opening of the Village will occur following the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 4 at 7:00pm, and will be displayed thru the end of December. Reservations are not required.

Gingerbread Man Contest

Goodlettsville Parks and Recreation welcomes you to join the fun of the holiday season by participating in this year’s free Gingerbread Man Contest. Contestants may pick up a template and entry form  at the Delmas Long Community Center. Complete projects will be returned to the Community Center by December 11, and displayed for the month of December. Click here to find out more about the contest.
